Ben Nevis

Our final leg of the Way was to Fort William which is overlooked by Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK at 1345 metres. We had glimpses of Ben Nevis yesterday and it dominated our view today. We were both foot weary on arrival so respect to those walkers who did the whole Way (usually over 7-8 days).

It was a unique walking experience. The itinerary for many of the participants is the same so you end up in a bubble seeing the same faces every day on the trail, in the pubs, at the accommodation. It's all very collegiate and fun. It would have been something different I'm sure if we had some proper Scottish weather thrown at us so we're very grateful for what we got. We're departing with that melancholy feeling you get when you leave something special behind.

The early part of the day took us through a big valley along the same military road we started on.
