An Unexpected Journey
It started with me remarking that my Vespa was from "this part of Italy" and ended with us visiting the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera. It was one of the train stops between La Spezia and San Miniato (where we start our Tuscany walk). Too much of a coincidence to let slip. Even Vicki enjoyed it.
I knew from previous research that they had my model on display so it was a great opportunity to see it up close in it's natural state. I was the the only one at the museum lying on the ground taking pictures. To that point, there were other visitors.
My Vespa has potential to look like this
Our final day in La Spezia saw us take a closer look. We then decided to take the train back to Monterosso for lunch and a lazy afternoon
The port area in La Spezia. The town has views across to the Apuan Alps which provide a dramatic backdrop. Not quite as in your face as Kaikoura.
We start our walk tomorrow somewhere out there
We have a stamp in our pilgrims passport. Not sure the walk from the bus stop to the hotel was worthy, but we'll make up for it
Kieran has to look after himself now because he complained of a sore toe this morning which is not the correct way to undertake seven days of walking.
