Leaving Spain
Our 12 days in Spain are complete. We've taken the softer option of a taxi to Seville airport for our flight to Lisbon.
We started our exploration of Seville by walking to the main gardens. When we arrived, the park was closed due to weather. Groups of locals and visitors gathered at the gates looking bewildered as it was a very pleasant morning. Heavy rain did arrive mid afternoon. By then we were on a guided tour of the cathedral. The tour gave us some good historical background to the city.
Seville is littered with beautiful buildings including the relatively modern Plaza de Espana featured in Star Wars.
We visited the Seville Museum of Fine Arts which was good value at 3 euro for both of us. Most attractions in Spain appear to be monetised.
Replica of Nao Victoria, famed with being the first ship to circumnavigate the world. It's not very big
Resting place of Christopher Columbus in the cathedral
Resting place of Vicki in the bar 5 metres from our hotel
They have a pigeon problem in Spain. Note the spikes on this statue
We completed our visit with a flamenco show. We chose a small venue (30 seats) with a sales pitch of authenticity; the performance is more spontaneous than choreographed, in line with tradition. My cold has transitioned into a dry cough so I had to work really hard not to inject myself into the show. Anyway, it was a fun night.
Our overall impression of Seville is that it is very relaxed and a nice place just to hang out. I don't think I could live here though.
