Granada

Vicki and I now own two collapsible umbrellas. We've been treated to showery weather in Granada and even though we packed head to toe wet weather gear for our upcoming hikes, an umbrella makes sense.

Our first full day in Granada started with the laundromat. We arrived there prior to 10am which gave us the jump on most of the locals. The rest of the day was dedicated to another self guided walking tour, and food. The Arabic influence lives on in Granada so the food options are different. We also stumbled on to another trend in this part of Spain; free Tapas with your drink. We chose a busy restaurant and when we ordered a main and a glass of wine, we were surprised to be asked what choice of free Tapas we wanted. It became apparent that this venue was a popular choice for young travelers. As we left, the queue was down the street.
There's definitely a bit of a Fergburger thing going on. We've noticed a number of food places in our travels so far with a disproportionate level of interest. Another example of online influence today was we decided to try a sweet treat; Baklava, an ottoman pastry. When we paid, we were offered an extra free pastry if we reviewed their shop on Google.

On our final day we visited a garden area adjacent to the Alhambra which was not such a tourist hot spot but well worth a visit. This kicked us off on a walking epic with highlights being a cave museum (people stopped living in them in 1963)
and the highest point above Granada we could get to. There's quite a bit of snow on the Sierra Nevada's.

The photometer is red-lining in Granada. I need to cull quite a few.

We've also encountered some anti-tourism sentiment. A building adorned with signage to the point and a local in a back street flipped us the bird and said go home. A lot of the tourists in Granda are Spanish. A bit like us visiting Queenstown I guess. Part of me is sympathetic to this, the visitor numbers are crazy, and we're part of it. By contrast, the service we have received in all forms has been very welcoming.

Kieran also has a cold. Nothing too debilitating at this stage.
